Area baseball roundup: Bon Homme/Scotland edges Parkston
PARKSTON—Christian Uecker struck out eight batters and Bon Homme/Scotland nipped Parkston 4-3 in a high school baseball contest on Monday.
Uecker allowed one hit and kept Bon Homme/Scotland scoreless through the first five innings. Offensively, Bon Homme/Scotland plated three runs in the fifth inning to extend its lead to 4-0. Parkston got within 4-2 after six innings and plated another run in the seventh inning, but could not tie the contest.
Joey Slama had a single and a double for Bon Homme/Scotland. Tanner VanDriel, John Kubal and Beau Rothschadl all had hits.
For Parkston, Brady Albrecht had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. Sutton Hohn and Dawson Semmler both had a hit. Hohn was tagged with the loss. He scattered five hits, gave up four runs (one earned) and struck out three batters.
Winner/Colome 10, St. Thomas More 6
WINNER—The Winner/Colome Royals had a six-run first inning and went onto defeat St. Thomas More in prep baseball action on Monday.
Jackson Kinzer and Nick Lantz both drove in two runs apiece. Layton Thieman, Ty Bolton and Oscar Pravecek all drove in runs. Carter Brickman added a hit.
Bolton finished 2-for-3, while also pitching 4.2 innings. He struck out five batter and issued three walks.
Brickman also pitched 2.1 innings, striking out three batters, scattering eight hits and allowing six runs (five earned).
